WMDs - The MEDICAL RESPONSE GUIDE

The term "Weapons of Mass Destruction" or WMD, encompasses Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear weapons. This course is designed to be a practical course specifically addressing signs and symptoms resulting from the use of, and exposure to, these various weapons of terrorism.

In the aftermath of a major CBRN event, hospitals, clinicians and EMS personnel will be directly affected. Victims will either be brought into the hospital environment, or will voluntarily walk into the Emergency Room, complaining of a variety of symptoms and displaying various signs of exposure. In the majority of the cases, the victims will not know they have been exposed to WMD's such as Anthrax, Botulism, Nerve Agents or Radiation, etc. When these people enter the medical environment, it will be crucial for healthcare professionals to be able to recognize signs and symptoms of exposure. Once the symptoms are recognized as suspicious, healthcare professionals will need to know the safest and quickest way to respond. This course is a thorough reference guide and should be available for every emergency response!
